Hello, I’m Connor — a BACP-registered, person-centred therapist offering online and phone counselling. I have a particular interest in neurodivergence, including ADHD and autistic experiences, and the emotional challenges that can come with them, such as anxiety, low mood, burnout, relationship difficulties, and pressures around identity or self-esteem.
Before training as a therapist, I spent over five years working in homelessness services, supporting people facing complex challenges including trauma, anxiety, depression, and instability. This work shaped my understanding of resilience and the many ways people navigate adversity. I’ve also been a counsellor for a bereavement service and a carers’ charity, which strengthened my experience of grief, overwhelm, and the emotional impact of supporting others.
My own exploration of neurodivergence has also influenced how I work. Conversations with clients, diagnosed friends, and my own research have often led to moments of “I do that too.” For example, neurodivergence may feel a bit like being a translator — constantly interpreting social expectations, work demands, and unspoken norms. This ongoing “translation” can be tiring, and it may lead to frustration (at ourselves, the world, or both), shame, or burnout.
Another example, with ADHD specifically, is the tension between “having the thoughts of a workaholic but not the actions of one.” The expectations we place on ourselves — or that others/society place on us — don’t always match what our energy, body, or executive functioning can deliver.
These experiences may create a sense of being out of step, misunderstood, or alone — especially if parts of you have been dismissed or criticised in the past. Our work together may involve making space for those parts to be seen, heard, and understood differently.
If any of these threads resonate, therapy may offer a space for us to understand your experience with curiosity, and to discover what actually supports your own way of being.
Session Details
I offer person-centred counselling, which means we move at your pace and focus on what feels most meaningful to you. I often think of the process as the two of us being tour guides on a tour of you: you know your world well and I aim to offer a fresh perspective that helps us notice patterns, stuck points, shortcuts, or parts of you that may be overworking or hiding away.
In practice, this might involve me reflecting back a word, emotion, or contrast I notice — for example, if something sounds upbeat but feels tinged with sadness, I may gently check whether that lands for you. If it resonates, we explore it; if not, we let it go. The intention is for the work to feel collaborative, transparent, and aiming to develop a deeper understanding of your inner world.
I always welcome questions about the process or why I’m asking what I’m asking in sessions. It’s important to me that you feel informed, empowered, and actively involved in how we work together.
If you’re curious about starting therapy, I offer a free 30-minute conversation to help you get a sense of whether it feels like a good fit.
