Janine Sharkey | Holistic ADHD Coach

£75 for 50 minutes; low income discount available

Hi, I'm Janine. I am a qualified ADHD Coach, trained by Barretts Coaching and Training, and an experienced therapeutic care professional with over 17 years' experience working in therapeutic residential children's services, supporting young people with complex needs, neurodiversity, trauma, attachment difficulties, emotional dysregulation, and behaviours that challenge.

My work is also deeply personal. I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2024 and am currently awaiting an Autism assessment. I understand first-hand the emotional impact of growing up feeling different, struggling with self-esteem, relationships, emotional overwhelm, rejection sensitivity, unhealthy coping strategies, and trying to navigate a world that often does not support neurodivergent minds. I was permanently excluded from school and left with very little confidence in myself, yet through years of self-development, training, and understanding my brain and nervous system, I have created a life that works with my neurodiversity rather than against it.

My coaching is holistic in nature, looking at the whole person — including their lifestyle, relationships, environment, nervous system, emotional wellbeing, and daily experiences — rather than focusing purely on behaviour or symptoms. My work is about helping people understand themselves with compassion, regulate their nervous system, work with their brain rather than constantly fighting against it, and create a life that feels calmer, lighter, and more sustainable.

I take a client-centred approach, recognising that everybody's experience of ADHD and neurodiversity is different. You may have only recently been diagnosed, be awaiting assessment, or already have a strong understanding of yourself but need support in specific areas of your life. Everyone's journey is unique, and my coaching is tailored to meet you where you are, helping you build strategies, self-awareness, confidence, and a way of living that genuinely works for you.

My aim is to help people feel understood, empowered, and capable of thriving as their authentic selves.

A significant part of my career has involved supporting teenagers experiencing severe emotional distress, mental health crises, and behaviours linked to undiagnosed neurodiversity. I have worked with young people who had been detained under the Mental Health Act and were later diagnosed with ADHD or Autism, supporting them to transition safely back into the community, better understand themselves, regulate emotions, and develop strategies to manage their neurodiversity in a healthier and more sustainable way.

I have extensive safeguarding experience and have worked closely with mental health teams, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, schools, safeguarding teams, and wider multi-agency professionals to support young people with highly complex presentations of neurodiversity and trauma.

I am extensively trained in neurodiversity, trauma-informed practice, emotional regulation, attachment, safeguarding, and behaviour support. I am also a qualified Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Coach, trained in a BILD-accredited approach that focuses on understanding the unmet need behind behaviour, identifying patterns and triggers, and creating compassionate, proactive strategies that reduce distress and improve quality of life. My coaching combines this behavioural understanding with emotional support, nervous system regulation, and practical ADHD-friendly strategies.

I also hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Nutrition and Health, training in Functional Behaviour Analysis, and specialist forensic training around trauma and problematic behaviour. I am also a qualified Personal Trainer and currently completing my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, allowing me to bring a holistic perspective into my work through movement, nervous system regulation, lifestyle, mindset, and wellbeing approaches.
